This code of practice provides guidance and rules on authorisations for the use or the conduct of covert human intelligence sources under Part 2 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. It sets out the authorisation procedures to be followed for the grant, review, renewal and cancellation of authorisations, and for the management of sources, as well as special rules for authorisations in respect of confidential and legally privileged information or juvenile sources. The code is aimed primarily at members of public authorities involved in making applications for the grant of authorisations and those persons designated to grant authorisations
