This bulletin continues the annual series of Transport Statistics Bulletins with tables of data for road-based public transport in England. This edition contains statistical releases for:

Annual bus statistics: England 2020/21
This statistical release presents the latest annual statistics on the local bus sector. Local bus services use public service vehicles (PSVs) to carry passengers paying separate fares over short distances. Most of the data are derived from the Department for Transport’s (DfT) annual survey of local bus operators. Figures are presented for England, in line with coverage of DfT bus policy.

Light rail and tram statistics, England: year ending March 2021
This release presents the latest annual information on light rail and tram systems in England during the financial year ending March 2021. The release covers light rail and tram use, infrastructure, revenue, and passenger experience. This publication covers 8 urban systems that are predominantly surface-running. Smaller systems (for example, heritage railway and airport transit systems) are not included. London and Glasgow Underground and Edinburgh Trams are also excluded but statistics for these systems are included in the tables.

Blue Badge scheme statistics, England: 2021
Blue Badges are disabled parking cards issued by local authorities to help people with mobility issues park closer to the goods and services they need to use. In August 2019, Blue Badge scheme eligibility criteria were extended to include more people with nonvisible, neurological disabilities that may affect their ability to access goods and services.

Blue Badges are issued according to need of the applicant and are not related to any specific condition. Anyone may be awarded a Blue Badge if they meet the scheme’s eligibility criteria. Badges can also be issued to organisations who transport people with disabilities. Upon issue, a Blue Badge is valid for a period of up to 3 years. Blue Badges held refers to badges on issue as at 31 March 2021.
