This report examines asylum seeker and asylum-route refugee vulnerabilities, needs, and support, and how each are met or unmet, understood, and operationalised in the context of the UK asylum journey. The notion of ‘vulnerability’ has become increasingly popular in global legal and policy discourse on forced migration in recent years. This reflects a recognition that while all asylum seekers are in need of protection, as recognised in a set of global standards, there are individuals and profiles of individuals who have additional or specific vulnerabilities that arise prior to, and whilst, seeking asylum, as well as during the ongoing process of integration.
