Operation of police powers under the Terrorism Act 2000 and subsequent legislation

This release covers Official Statistics on the use of police powers under terrorism and subsequent legislation in Great Britain on a quarterly basis, up to the year ending 30 June 2026. It also covers arrests for terrorist-related activity under other legislation, such as the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).

This release includes subsets of Official Statistics classified as Accredited Official Statistics and Official Statistics in Development. These statistics draw on a range of administrative data sources that are updated as cases progress through the criminal justice system. Therefore, figures may be revised in future releases.

This is the final quarterly release of the Operation of Police Powers under the Terrorism Act 2000 statistics. Following a user consultation, the results of which were published alongside the previous release, the publication will move to a 6-monthly schedule. Feedback indicated that a 6-monthly release cycle would better support the interpretation of trends and allow for more in-depth analysis of key topics and emerging issues.

There have been changes to the data presented within this publication:

• Palestine Action Group (PAG) figures were previously reported only in commentary and charts; this release introduces separate PAG and non-PAG breakdowns within the accompanying arrests and charges data tables in Tables A_01 and A_03 of the annual and quarterly data tables
• revisions to arrest ethnicity data following the adoption of the 18+1 ethnicity classification framework by Counter Terrorism Policing
