Businesses and organisations (such as pubs, bars, cinemas, nightclubs, late-opening cafes, village and community halls and supermarkets), and individuals, that wish to sell or supply alcohol in England and Wales must hold a licence or other authorisation issued by an LA - usually a local council. Alcohol licensing law and policy is the responsibility of the Home Office.
