Health and safety is not exactly a laughing matter but this DVD uses humour to get serious messages across. A series of short animated films feature the character NAPO coming to terms in his own unique way with health and safety in the workplace.

The films should appeal to all workers, especially those who are young or inexperienced, and will help them to understand hazards and how to avoid them.

The sketches cross language barriers because there are no speaking parts, only occasional sound effects. NAPO is shown working in an unsafe way, often with spectacular results, but the stories show how the accidents could have been avoided.

This DVD includes three films previously released on video, together with two new titles.

The adventures of NAPO
2001 16 minutes

A series of sketches based on a number of amusing sketches involving the main character, NAPO. It show how accidents can be prevented and highlights the importance of not taking risks.

This film introduces NAPO and his uncanny ability to fall foul of hazards at work. A series of amusing sketches see him getting into various scrapes, testing the patience of his long-suffering boss but learning about health and safety as he goes along.

The film shows how accidents can be prevented . It highlights the importance of not taking risks and not taking short cuts to complete a task.
The other issues it covers include:

using safety signs correctly
understanding the warning labels on containers
safety when travelling to and from work
using appropriate personal protective equipment
using the correct and appropriate packaging

Best signs story... safety signs at work
1998 12 minutes

This film provides an introduction to the range of health and safety signs and symbols found in the workplace. It provides a useful training guide for new employees and a valuable refresher for other workers as it shows a variety of different workplace situations where safety signs are important.

By following NAPO's exploits, this film introduces the range of health and safety signs and symbols that can be found in the workplace.

The film explains what various safety signs mean and brings the subject to life by making the signs characters in their own right. As with the other films in the series, it gets a safety message across in a simple but effective way.

Scratch and sniff... chemical risks at work
2002 12 minutes

A series of short, comic sketches show Napo working with various chemicals, including those that are irritant, flammable, corrosive, toxic or a danger to the environment.In each case the relevent warning symbol is shown, followed by a sequence in which Napo causes accidents by not using the chemicals safely. At the end of each sketch viewers are shown how the accident could have been prevented by safe working practices.

The film will help workers:

identify warning symbols correctly
understand the risks posed by chemicals at work
reduce those risks by improving work practices.

Clean sweep highlights various health and safety messages relating to non-domestic cleaning. It touches on working at height, the importance of warning signs and preventing accidents.
