Examining Officers under the Terrorism Act 2000: Code of Practice provides guidance for examining officers (defined as a constable, immigration officer or customs officer) in relation to the application and interpretation of their powers under Schedules 7 and 8 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

The powers contained in Schedules 7 and 8 allow examining officers at air and seaports within the UK, along with international rail services to stop, question and detain persons.

This examination is for ascertaining whether the person is or has been concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

The code is intended for use by examining officers, their supervisors and managers and others who may have an interest in the exercise of these powers.
