This Approved Document L2B: Conservation of fuel and power came into force on 6th April 2006 in support of the Building and Approved Inspectors (Amendment) Regulations 2006, SI 2006/652. From that date, the 2002 edition of Approved Document L1 will become obsolete.

Approved Document L2B: Conservation of fuel and power sets out to make buildings more energy efficient,saving one million tonnes of carbon per year.

These much awaited changes will have a significant effect on design and construction practices and are intended to improve energy efficiency standards by 40%.

Part L2B deals with Existing Buildings other than dwellings.
